Hydrologist (remote)

Remote · 40 hours per week · employment

This is a hands-on role, not a purely theoretical one: your analyses are linked to real solutions and technologies, deployed in real environments.

About WaveSave

WaveSave is a Dutch water-resilience company based in Eindhoven, founded in 2017. We make SLAMDAM, a water-filled mobile flood barrier tested by TÜV Nederland, Deltares and NAHRIM, and we deliver flood early warning, nature-based solutions, drought control and water data services. Our projects, with partners such as UNEP, the African Development Bank and the Adaptation Fund, help communities in Africa, Asia, the Pacific and Europe protect themselves against floods and droughts.

What you will do

  • Carry out hydrological and hydrodynamic analyses for flood and drought projects.
  • Build and run flood models that show where water will flow and where measures, such as a SLAMDAM barrier, have the greatest effect.
  • Assess sites before a barrier is deployed, including its effect on the surrounding area.
  • Provide the risk knowledge for flood early warning systems, together with our monitoring partners.
  • Present your findings clearly to professionals, such as engineers, authorities and funders.

Who you are

  • At least a master’s degree in hydrology, water engineering or a related field.
  • Preferably at least five years of experience in hydrological or hydrodynamic modelling, for example with 3Di.
  • Experience in turning analyses into practical solutions in the field.
  • Able to communicate and present findings to professionals.
  • Fluent in English; French is an advantage.
  • Willing to make occasional site visits to projects in various countries.

What we offer

  • A remote position: you work from the country where you live.
  • Employment for 40 hours per week.
  • Occasional site visits to our projects in various countries.
  • Work that helps communities become resilient to floods and droughts.
